Joan Miró made this print, Untitled [plate LXXIX], with ink on paper. I can almost see him in the studio, experimenting with different tools and techniques, like a kid in a sandbox. There's a playful, almost childlike quality to the composition, with its floating shapes and whimsical lines. That spiraling line with the red and yellow dots is like a thought bubble escaping from the artist's head. And that funny little contraption on the right – is it a machine, a creature, or just a figment of Miró's imagination? I like to think about the conversation between artists across time, inspiring each other's creative journeys. Miró definitely had his own language, but he was also in dialogue with so many other painters. Artists are always building on what came before, pushing the boundaries of what painting can be. It's like a never-ending game of telephone, with each artist adding their own twist to the story.
