Biography
Zhu Lu (1553-1632) was a Chinese artist known for his ink-and-wash paintings of bamboo. This painting, executed on a folding fan, is a prime example of Lu's signature style: delicate brushstrokes capturing the graceful curves of bamboo stalks and leaves. Lu's work often features calligraphic elements, which are integrated into the composition to enhance the visual and intellectual experience of the viewer. These works were highly prized by collectors in his time and continue to be admired for their aesthetic beauty and technical skill.
