Biography
Wolf Milicz was a German Renaissance medallist and goldsmith known for his detailed and lifelike portraits. His medals, often cast in silver, typically feature an obverse with a profile portrait of a notable figure, and a reverse with a scene relating to their life or accomplishments. The medals were commissioned by and for the elite and were often given as gifts to commemorate events such as weddings and coronations. Milicz's work can be seen as both a form of portraiture and historical documentation.
