William (I) Faithorne was an English engraver, painter, and printmaker who lived from 1616 to 1691. He was born and died in London. He was known for his portrait engravings, particularly of prominent figures of the time, as well as for his book illustrations. His work, often executed in the style of the Baroque period, is characterized by its detailed and meticulous execution. Faithorne's engravings showcase his mastery of line and his keen ability to capture the likenesses of his subjects. He produced both portraits and historical scenes, and he was also known for his book illustrations.
