Biography
Tivadar Kosztka Csontváry (1853-1919) was a Hungarian painter known for his distinctive landscapes and cityscapes. Born in Kisszeben, Slovakia, he developed a unique style characterized by intense colors, bold brushstrokes, and a sense of monumental scale. His paintings often depicted the grandeur of nature and the beauty of the built environment, as seen in works such as "The Mountain" and "The Bridge at Mostar". Csontváry’s later career was marked by a growing interest in the human figure and biblical themes, yet his landscapes remain his most celebrated works.
