Biography
Theophilius Laan (1700-1761) was a Dutch engraver and cartographer. He was known for his detailed and accurate engravings of cityscapes and portraits. Laan's engravings were often used to illustrate books and maps, and they are now considered important historical documents. His work is often characterized by its use of fine lines and hatching, which creates a sense of depth and realism.
