Biography
Suzuki Harunobu (1725-1770) was a prominent Japanese artist known for his beautiful and delicate woodblock prints. He was a pioneer of the *ukiyo-e* (pictures of the floating world) genre and is credited with introducing the *nishiki-e* (brocade picture) style of multi-colored woodblock prints. His works often depict elegant *bijin* (beautiful women) in fashionable attire, engaging in everyday activities or scenes from popular plays. Harunobu's artistic style is characterized by soft colors, flowing lines, and a focus on capturing the ephemeral beauty of the fleeting world. He played a crucial role in shaping the development of *ukiyo-e* and greatly influenced later generations of Japanese printmakers.
