Biography

Sebald Beham (1500–1550) was a German Renaissance artist known for his detailed engravings. His work often depicted religious scenes, such as the “The Mocking of Christ”, as well as satirical subjects, such as the “Two Fools”, and portraits. Beham's engravings are characterized by their meticulous linework, expressive figures, and meticulous details. His work influenced many other artists, including Albrecht Dürer, and contributed significantly to the development of printmaking as a form of artistic expression in the 16th century.
