Samuel Seymour (1780-1850) was an American artist best known for his detailed depictions of landscapes, seascapes, and maritime events. He is credited with creating the first accurate view of New York City from across the East River, seen in his iconic print "View of New York" which features a panoramic perspective with a group of people enjoying the view. He also captured the dramatic moments of naval battles, as seen in "Brilliant Naval Victory," showcasing the skill and precision of his draughtsmanship.
