Roman Opalka

Roman Opalka (1931-2011) was a French conceptual artist known for his meticulous and systematic approach to artmaking. His most famous work, "Detail of the History of Painting," is a series of canvases, begun in 1965, on which he painted consecutive numbers in gray tones. This ongoing project, spanning his entire career, reflected his fascination with time, memory, and the passage of life, while also incorporating minimalist principles.
