Biography
Richard Hamilton (1922-2011) was a British artist known for his pioneering work in Pop art. Born in London, he was a key figure in the development of the movement, creating iconic pieces that captured the zeitgeist of the 1950s and 1960s. His collages, often incorporating found images from magazines and advertisements, questioned the relationship between art and mass culture. His works, such as "Just what is it that makes today's homes so different, so appealing?" (1956), are characterized by their playful use of color, form, and text. He explored themes of consumerism, technology, and the media, challenging traditional artistic boundaries and making a lasting impact on the visual landscape of the 20th century.
