Biography
Polion was an Athenian potter and vase-painter working in the late 6th century BC. He was a master of the black-figure technique, known for his elegant figures and the use of the “added white” technique to enhance details. His repertoire of subjects included mythological scenes, such as the winged goddess Nike riding a horse, and everyday scenes, like musicians and a man being introduced to two men, perhaps a father introducing his son to friends.
