Pinturicchio

Bernardino di Betto, better known as Pinturicchio (1454-1513), was an Italian painter known for his fresco cycles and decorative works. Born in Perugia, he was an assistant to Perugino, adopting the latter's linear style and the soft, luminous color palette of the Umbrian school. He is best known for his vibrant, narrative-rich frescoes in the Borgia Apartments in the Vatican Palace and the frescoes in the Siena Cathedral Library. Pinturicchio's work is characterized by its detailed depictions of architecture, landscapes, and figures, as well as its use of gold leaf and bright colors, showcasing the high Renaissance style. His work displays an interest in classical themes and mythology, evident in the roundel depicting a satyr and nymph.
