Biography
The Oxford Class of Head Vases are a group of ancient Greek ceramic vessels, specifically lekythoi, that are known for their distinctive design. These lekythoi are characterized by a human head that serves as the body of the vessel, with a small, round opening at the top for pouring. The head is often adorned with elaborate hairstyles and jewelry, and the face is typically rendered with a serene, idealized expression. This unique form of lekythos was popular in the 5th century BC and is associated with funerary rituals.
