Biography
Orazio Scoppa was an Italian silversmith who worked in the early 17th century. Scoppa is known for his highly decorative and elaborate designs for silver objects, often incorporating grotesque figures and floral motifs. He is considered a master of the Baroque style. His designs are characterized by swirling, asymmetrical forms, often executed in repousse, a technique where metal is hammered from the back to create raised designs.
