Michael Schnell

Michael Schnell (1721-1785) was a German engraver who is best known for his portraits and genre scenes. Born in Bartenbach and later residing in Augsburg, he primarily produced prints that depicted women reading love letters, often in elegant settings, as seen in works like "La Belle attachée à lire une Lettre galante" and "L'Iris cache en vain son amour". Schnell's engravings, often featuring a high degree of detail and delicate linework, were popular in the 18th century for their romantic and sentimental subject matter, showcasing the social customs and fashion of the time.
