Biography
Mariano del Buono was an Italian illuminator active in the late 15th century. He is known for his exquisite and richly detailed miniature paintings, often found in illuminated manuscripts. His work is characterized by vibrant colors, delicate lines, and a meticulous attention to detail. The images shown are from a manuscript depicting scenes from the life of Christ. The intricate borders and the small scenes of people interacting highlight the use of vibrant colors like pink, gold, blue and green. This style was typical of the period and is often referred to as the "International Gothic" style.
