Biography
María Blanchard (March 6, 1881 – April 5, 1932) was a Spanish painter best known for her Cubist works. Born in Santander, Spain, Blanchard moved to Paris in 1907. Her early works were influenced by Impressionism, but she quickly embraced the Cubist style, becoming associated with the avant-garde movement in Paris. Her Cubist works, like those shown above, are characterized by their geometric forms, fragmented perspectives, and bold use of color, creating a dynamic and abstract representation of reality. Blanchard's paintings often depict scenes of everyday life, like playing music or intimate gatherings, using her signature style.
