Biography
Born in Warsaw in 1883, Ludwig Casimir Ladislas Marcoussis was a Polish-French painter and printmaker known for his contributions to Cubism. He is best known for his geometrically abstracted still lifes and landscapes, often incorporating text and other graphic elements, evident in his prints like “Le Goûteur” and “La Lecture”. Marcoussis's works, often characterized by their use of black and white, explore the fragmentation of form and space in a distinctly modernist style.
