Biography
Léonor Fini (August 30, 1908 - January 18, 1996) was an Argentinian-Italian Surrealist painter known for her enigmatic and sensual imagery. Her work often features androgynous figures, surreal landscapes, and dreamlike symbolism. Fini’s paintings often explore themes of desire, transformation, and the female experience, and frequently depict women in both powerful and vulnerable positions. While some critics see her work as celebrating female empowerment, others argue that it perpetuates stereotypical notions of femininity. Fini’s unique style is characterized by rich colors, detailed brushwork, and a haunting atmosphere.
