Lakai is a term used to describe the anonymous artists who created embroidered textiles, known as suzani, in Central Asia, particularly in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. These artists created intricate patterns using silk and cotton threads, often on a red or black background. Their works feature vibrant geometric designs like stylized flowers, paisley motifs, and swirling spirals, often arranged in a symmetrical composition. These textiles, often used as wall hangings or decorative coverings, are renowned for their fine craftsmanship and symbolic significance, representing the artistic traditions and cultural heritage of the region.
