Justus Sustermans (1597-1681) was a Flemish painter known for his portraits of royalty and aristocracy. His work often featured realistic depictions of his subjects, with an emphasis on detail and naturalism. Sustermans's style was influenced by the Italian Renaissance, particularly the work of Titian. His portraits are characterized by their strong compositions, rich colors, and elegant poses. Sustermans was the court painter to the Medici family in Florence, and he also worked for other prominent patrons throughout Europe.
