Biography
Jose Clemente Orozco (1883-1949) was a Mexican painter and muralist who became known for his powerful and often politically charged work. Orozco's murals, like those seen in the images, are characterized by their starkly graphic style, strong lines, and somber palette, often depicting scenes of social injustice and the struggles of the working class. He is considered one of the "Big Three" Mexican muralists, alongside Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros, who used art to promote a sense of national identity and social change in Mexico during the early 20th century. Orozco's work often reflected his critical views on the political and social landscape of his time, resulting in his powerful and thought-provoking murals.
