Biography
Johann Jakob Wagner (1710 - 1797) was a German engraver, best known for his portraits. Wagner’s engravings were often in the Rococo style, characterized by their delicate lines, swirling patterns, and ornate frames. His work features a variety of subjects including historical figures, religious figures, and everyday people. He was highly sought after for his portrait engravings which were known for their elegant realism. The examples shown here showcase his skill in capturing likeness and detail.
