Biography
Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985) was a French painter, sculptor, and graphic artist known for his Art Brut style. He rejected traditional art and instead sought to portray the raw and unfiltered expression of the outsider. His work often featured bold colors, textured surfaces, and distorted figures, inspired by children's art, folk art, and the work of psychiatric patients. His "L'Hourloupe" series, characterized by abstract figures and vibrant hues, exemplifies his unique artistic vision. Dubuffet’s art challenged the conventional norms of beauty and redefined the artistic canon. His works are celebrated for their raw energy and unconventional aesthetic, making him a significant figure in the development of post-war art.
