Biography
Jan Frans van Bloemen (1662-1749) was a Flemish painter known for his landscape scenes, especially those depicting ruins and classical architecture. Often referred to as “Orizonte”, his works showcase a picturesque style, with a focus on light and atmospheric effects. Van Bloemen was particularly inspired by the Roman countryside, which he captured in detail in his paintings. These works are characterized by their deep perspective, dramatic use of light and shadow, and a sense of tranquility. His landscapes often feature figures in the foreground, adding a touch of human activity to the scenes.
