Biography
Jacob Ernst Marcus (1774-1826) was a Dutch printmaker and engraver, born on Sint Eustatius and died in Amsterdam. Marcus is best known for his satirical prints, such as “Een intallende Gedachten,” which often depicted contemporary figures and events in a humorous or critical light. He was also known for his portrait engravings and book illustrations. Marcus' work provides valuable insights into the social and cultural life of the Netherlands in the early 19th century.
