Jacob Burghart was a 17th century German engraver known for his detailed and expressive portraits. This etching depicts the German theologian and reformer, Meno Simonis, in his study. The etching captures Simonis's intellectualism with a detailed portrayal of him holding a quill pen, a book and a book shelf in the background.
