Biography
Isoda Koryūsai (1735-1790) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist known for his beautiful and detailed depictions of women and nature. He is famous for his *bijin-ga* (pictures of beautiful women), often portrayed in elegant clothing and settings. Koryūsai’s work frequently featured intricate patterns and designs, and his use of vibrant colors and delicate lines created a sense of refinement and beauty. The images of women in his prints are often engaged in various activities, showcasing daily life and cultural practices of the time. His *surimono* (printed poems) are also highly regarded for their artistic merit and are considered among the finest of the genre. Koryūsai's work is a testament to the beauty and skill of Japanese woodblock printing during the Edo period.
