Hishikawa Waō was a Japanese artist active in the early 18th century. Known for his *bijin-ga* (pictures of beautiful women), his works often feature elegant women in richly patterned robes, set against delicate landscapes with flowing rivers and lush foliage. Waō's compositions are characterized by a sense of refinement and a refined aesthetic, typical of the *ukiyo-e* (pictures of the floating world) style. His works are prized for their delicate brushwork and graceful depictions of feminine beauty.
