Hishikawa Sōri

Hishikawa Sōri was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist who lived from 1797 to 1813. He was known for his depictions of everyday life in Edo (modern-day Tokyo), particularly the activities of women and children. Sōri's prints often feature playful scenes, like a rabbit and a monkey fighting or a woman winding silk, capturing the vibrancy of the Edo period through fine lines and vivid colours. His work, while often overlooked, offers valuable insights into the culture and social life of early 19th century Japan.
