Biography
Hendrik Pola was a Dutch engraver who lived from 1676 to 1748, and died in Den Haag. Pola was best known for his detailed engravings of mythological subjects, often depicting scenes from ancient Greek and Roman stories. He also created illustrations for books and other publications. His engravings are characterized by their precise lines, intricate detail, and use of light and shadow. His work reflected the popular interest in classical antiquity and the use of allegorical imagery.
