Biography
Glenisson & Zonen were a Dutch printing firm that produced popular prints for a wide audience. Their most famous works are “The World Upside Down” series, known for their humorous depictions of everyday life and moralising tales. The prints typically feature simple, colorful illustrations with short accompanying texts in both Dutch and French. These satirical narratives depict the absurdity of social structures and human nature, using common folk as protagonists. The prints were sold as single sheets and were popular in the 18th century.
