Biography
Giuseppe Ghislandi, better known as Fra Vittore, was a renowned Italian painter active during the 17th and 18th centuries. He was known for his highly realistic portraiture, often depicting individuals from the upper class and clergy. Fra Vittore's style was characterized by meticulous detail, subtle use of light and shadow, and a keen understanding of human anatomy. He excelled in depicting both the physical and psychological aspects of his sitters, making his portraits both visually captivating and psychologically insightful. Although his works have been attributed to the Baroque period, his meticulous and realistic style also foreshadowed the later emergence of Neoclassicism.
