Biography
Gerbrand van den Eeckhout (1621-1674) was a Dutch Golden Age painter, draughtsman and etcher. He was known for his landscapes, portraits and historical subjects. His works are characterized by their detailed and realistic style, which reflects the influence of his teacher Rembrandt. Eeckhout's landscapes often feature expansive vistas of Dutch countryside with rivers, trees, and buildings, while his portraits convey a sense of intimacy and psychological depth.
