Biography
George Stubbs (1724-1806) was an English painter renowned for his detailed and lifelike depictions of animals. He was a master of anatomy and spent years dissecting animals to understand their musculature. Stubbs’s equine paintings are among his most famous works, but he also produced exceptional portraits of dogs, lions, and other animals. His paintings were highly sought after by aristocratic patrons and helped to elevate animal portraiture to a higher level of artistic expression.
