Biography
Frederik van Blankenheim, a Dutch engraver, was active between 1355 and his death on October 9, 1423. He is best known for his work on coins, specifically the silver coin “Grote” (large) which was first struck in 1355 under the rule of William V of Holland. Van Blankenheim's coins are characterized by a detailed and intricate design, often featuring a stylized coat of arms and a raised inscription around the edge. His contributions to the artistic development of coinage in the Netherlands are notable.
