Biography
Frederick Hendrick van den Hove (1628-1698) was a Dutch engraver and draftsman who was born in The Hague and died in London. He is best known for his portraits and book illustrations. The visual style of his work is characterized by detailed lines and a clear, realistic depiction of the subjects, as seen in his engravings of prominent individuals such as Jacob Cornelisz. Dienaer and Claudius de Grieck. He also worked as a book illustrator, as shown in the title page engraving for "The Practice of Phyfick of D. Paul Barbette". His work provides insight into the cultural and social aspects of the 17th century, particularly in the Netherlands and England.
