Biography
Francesco Bartolozzi (1728-1815) was an Italian engraver who is renowned for his stipple engravings, a technique which uses dots to create tonal effects. His work often depicted classical subjects and portraits, and is characterized by delicate lines and a sense of refined elegance. He was particularly influential in the development of printmaking in England where he spent the majority of his career. Bartolozzi's engravings were highly sought after and influenced a generation of artists and collectors.
