Biography
Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller (1793-1865) was an Austrian painter known for his realistic depictions of everyday life. His works often depicted scenes of rural life, including landscapes, portraits, and genre paintings. Waldmüller was a master of light and shadow, and his paintings are characterized by their meticulous detail and their sense of realism. He is considered one of the most important representatives of Biedermeier art. He was a pioneer of plein air painting and he was highly influential on Austrian art, he is credited with helping to introduce a more realistic approach to painting in Austria.
