Biography
Crispijn van de Passe (II), also known as Crispijn de Passe the Younger, was a Dutch engraver, draughtsman and printmaker born in Cologne in 1597 and who died in Amsterdam on January 6, 1670. He was known for his meticulous engravings, which often featured detailed botanical illustrations, portraits, and historical scenes. His work was influenced by the Dutch Golden Age and is characterized by its realism and attention to detail. He is also notable for his contributions to the development of printmaking techniques, and his engravings were widely circulated throughout Europe, making him one of the most prolific engravers of his time.
