Biography
Charles Chetham was an American art student in the late 1950s living in Amsterdam, gathering materials for a doctoral thesis to be presented at Harvard University. His research focused on the impact of prints, engravings, drawings and books collected by Vincent van Gogh, which he believed played an influential part in the formation of his artistic style. Chetham’s research was focused on the stylistic impact of these materials and how they extended beyond the self-imposed limitations of van Gogh's artistic practice.
