C. Hallifax

C. Hallifax was an English silversmith, active in the late 18th century. This example of his work is a silver watch case, depicting the Annunciation, where the Angel Gabriel delivers the message to the Virgin Mary that she will conceive the Son of God. The case is chased with intricate detail and is a fine example of the rococo style popular in the late 1700s.
