Boris Kustodiev

Boris Kustodiev (May 7, 1878 – May 28, 1927) was a Russian painter and graphic artist, best known for his paintings and illustrations of everyday life in Russia. Born in Astrakhan, he studied art at the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg, where he developed a distinctive style characterized by bold colours, exaggerated forms, and an emphasis on the details of traditional Russian life. His works depict a diverse range of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, religious scenes, and scenes of peasant life, often imbued with humor and a nostalgic view of Russian culture. His paintings are celebrated for their vibrant depictions of Russian life, folk costumes, and traditional architecture.
