Biography
The White Sakkos Painter was an Athenian ceramicist known for their work in the white-ground technique. This technique involves painting figures in white slip on a black glazed background, and is most popular in the second half of the 5th century BC. The White Sakkos Painter's work often features depictions of Athenian women, known as "Sakkoi" for the white garments they wear. The elaborate decorative patterns and elegant figures demonstrate their mastery of Athenian vase painting.
