Biography
Andre Cadere (1934-1978) was a Polish-French conceptual artist who is known for his signature "sticks," which were brightly colored, cylindrical wooden rods painted in repeating patterns. Often positioned in corners of rooms or galleries, these minimalist sculptures challenged traditional notions of art by presenting objects as both ready-made and site-specific. Cadere’s sticks were a simple, yet powerful, expression of his artistic philosophy, questioning the boundaries between object and art, and inviting viewers to engage in a dialogue with both the work and the space itself.
