Biography

Albrecht Dürer was a German painter, printmaker, and theorist born in Nuremberg in 1471. He was a leading figure in the Northern Renaissance, known for his mastery of realism and detail. Dürer produced a wide range of works, including religious paintings, portraits, and landscapes. He was also a pioneer in the art of printmaking, particularly woodcuts and engravings, and his prints, such as “The Four Apostles,” influenced artists for centuries. His realistic depictions of nature, animals, and human figures, along with his innovative use of perspective and anatomy, helped define the artistic style of the Northern Renaissance.
