Biography
Agostino Ciampelli (1565-1630) was an Italian artist known for his drawings, often preparatory sketches for larger works. He was a master of the "disegno" (drawing), and his works often display a strong sense of composition, light, and shadow. Ciampelli's drawings, like the "St. Peter being lowered into a boat", showcase his mastery of the human figure and his ability to capture the drama and emotion of his subjects. His red chalk drawings are particularly noteworthy for their expressiveness and delicate lines, reflecting the Renaissance tradition of artistic study.
