Biography
Adriaan Bemme (1753-1831) was a Dutch medallist known for his work in bronze. Born in Delft, Bemme's pieces often celebrated historical figures and events. His signature style can be seen in the use of classical imagery, such as the seated figure of Minerva representing art, and laurel wreaths symbolizing victory. Bemme's medals were often commissioned by municipalities and institutions to commemorate significant milestones in Dutch history. His work remains a valuable source of information about the cultural and social landscape of the Netherlands in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
