Biography
Adam van der Meulen (1632-1690) was a Flemish painter and draughtsman who was appointed court painter to Louis XIV of France. He was known for his depictions of military campaigns, royal hunts, and other grand events of the French court. His paintings were typically characterized by their meticulous attention to detail, realistic portrayal of figures and landscapes, and grand sense of scale, exemplified in his most famous work, "The King’s Hunt at Fontainebleau." Van der Meulen was a significant artist of his time and is considered a key figure in the development of French Baroque art.
